This is done today with high technology. It doesn't matter if that window pops up just before, or soon after mine does, BOTH of them are feasting off the fruits of my labor, stealing your attention and your time, attempting to send you where you would not otherwise go.
Another technological trick is to INSERT advertising over the words of my page after you begin reading -- or create underlined links off my words. This is an even worse form of piracy because chances are you will believe it is me recommending these thieves the links over my words take you to!

Well, YES, it does. It really does. Here's why: The only thing worse than finding no information is to use information deliberately steering you wrong. Here's the way it works in real life.
About 100 years ago there was a health resort that attracted people from all around the world. By 1945 there were 14 fully credentialed doctors working in the health resort, and eleven of them were using POINTERS to get their traffic, and these genuine doctors were prescribing bizarre treatments to keep the patients they were paying for. "We had to, or we would have starved to death," they told the judge in charge of the cases.
